Children and parents enjoy the Club
The six villages served by the benefice of St Mary Magdalene Church, Waltham on the Wolds are in a beautiful, but isolated rural location. The summer holidays can be very long when the weather is unkind, as it was this summer.
The church provides a holiday club for all people living in the area. An application for £500 was made to the Mars in the Community Fund.
The holiday club held three sessions in the Village Hall at Waltham and a further three in Scalford. Over 70 children attended and participated in craft, sports, arts, music and dance activities.
Children of all ages were welcome to attend. Parents stayed with children under five and were welcome to stay with older ones, if they wanted to.
Shuna George the Holiday Club organiser said, “The sessions were really popular with children and parents alike. We had no trouble in the villages from bored kids and it created a great community atmosphere. The £500 from Mars made all the difference and we are very grateful for the support.”
